BARCELONA, Sorsogon — “The Barangay Secretaries’ duty is an indispensable function in the Barangay that’s why it is important to give them proper training and support so they could function well and learn to love their job as well”, Secretary to the Sanguniang Bayan of Barcelona Salve Magpayo emphasized during the Barangay Secretaries Training.

Last December 8, 2015, twenty-two (22) Barangay Secretaries completed the one-day intensive training at Sanguniang Bayan Session Hall, Brgy Poblacion Sur, this Municipality. They were taught on how to conduct Minutes Taking, Answering Caseload, Monitoring of Evaluation Form for Lupon and other additional skills and techniques as part of the capacity building training.

On the afternoon session, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Ma. Linda Fornelosa discussed about how to prepare the State of Barangay Governance Report (SBGR) and Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) mandated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). The session emphasized their functions during a case hearing including the proceedings in cases.

The event was successfully concluded through the awarding of certificates to the participants and the resource persons. “Pasalamat kita sa PCCED kay kun diri dahil sainda, diri kita matatawan sini na libreng training para sa mga Secretaries”, Magpayo said in local dialect.

The Barangay Secretaries Training is part of the Barangay Rule of Law Seminar (BRLS) which aims to strengthen Katarungang Pambarangay System in the Municipality of Barcelona. The activity was supported by the Local Government of Barcelona and funded by Agencia Española Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID) through the efforts of Zabalketa, a Spain based non-profit organization.
