AECID Manila visits PCCED projects in Sorsogon
Last March 30-31, 2017, Mr. Ignacio Cabria, Vice Director General, of the Spanish Cooperation in the Philippines, Technical Cooperation Office – AECID, joined the community partners, project beneficiaries and the PCCED – Sorsogon team, in some of the capacity-building and interaction activities in the Municipalities of Barcelona and Juban, in the Province of Sorsogon.
This endeavor is a milestone for PCCED and the community partners and beneficiaries, as this marks the first face-to-face interaction with AECID. Since 2008, AECID has been supporting the governance initiatives of the PCCED and Zabalketa in the Province of Sorsogon.
Mr. Cabria was able to attend the culminating activities attended by the partners and stakeholders of the project, “Promoting Democratic Values in the Barangays of Barcelona”. Hee witnessed the presentation of project and policy proposals from the 11 civil society organizations in the Municipality of Barcelona. He was also able to interact with St. Joseph Fisherfolk Association, one of the beneficiary CSO of the capacity-building programs of the project; which also received funding support for the creation of 5 fishing aggregates to aid the livelihood of the association’s 15 members.
Mr. Cabria also met the Civil Society and Lupon in the Municipality of Juban, and was able to observed simultaneous activities, such as the Strategic Planning workshop of the CSOs, and the coordination meeting of the Lupon Tagapmayapa Network and Legal Clinic.
