Barangay Good Governace Program

The BGGP focuses on the most basic political unit: the barangays. Knowing that democracy and good governance are best understood where citizens have direct, face-to-face interaction with government, the program aims to:

1. Train barangay officials on how to integrate good governance—transparency, accountability, efficiency and citizen participation—in the day-to-day affairs of the barangay government;

2. Strengthen the capacity of ordinary citizens to participate meaningfully in barangay governance; and,

(3) Provide a platform where citizens and government can practice “shared governance.”
